City of the Giant Cuttlefish
Whyalla
A steel city on the upper Spencer Gulf, and the only place on earth where giant Australian cuttlefish gather to breed in their thousands.
Whyalla
Whyalla is South Australia's third-largest city, built on steel and iron ore, but its real wonder is underwater. Each winter at Point Lowly, tens of thousands of giant Australian cuttlefish gather to breed in a riot of colour — the only mass cuttlefish aggregation on the planet, and one of the world's great snorkelling experiences.
