Whyalla Wetlands & Mangrove Boardwalk
A boardwalk and trail through mangroves and constructed wetlands near Whyalla, rich in birdlife on the upper Spencer Gulf.
On the edge of Whyalla, a network of boardwalks and trails threads through mangroves and constructed wetlands that have become a haven for waterbirds and shorebirds. Interpretive signage explains the mangrove ecosystem and its importance to the upper Spencer Gulf.
It is an easy, flat walk suitable for families, with the best birdwatching in the cooler hours of morning and evening. The wetlands sit close to the foreshore, so they pair naturally with a visit to the beach and marina.
