Haslam Jetty

A quiet little jetty at the tiny settlement of Haslam, fronting calm water ideal for fishing and sunsets.

A jetty and not much else

Haslam is one of those near-vanished settlements that dot the upper west coast — once a small port for shipping out grain and produce, now little more than a jetty, a handful of shacks and a great deal of peace.

The jetty reaches out over calm, shallow water that turns to glass on a still evening, making it a favourite spot for a quiet fish, a swim, or simply watching the sun drop into the gulf. It is the sort of place where you might have the whole horizon to yourself.

For travellers driving the long highway between Streaky Bay and Ceduna, it is a worthwhile detour and a glimpse of the quiet life of the far west coast.
