Coffin Bay National Park

Dunes, Surf Beaches & Sheltered Bays

A wild peninsula of windswept dunes, hidden bays and Southern Ocean surf beaches, much of it accessible only by four-wheel drive.

A wild peninsula at the edge of the bay

Protecting the rugged peninsula west of the township, Coffin Bay National Park is a place of contrasts: calm turquoise inlets on the bay side, and raw Southern Ocean surf on the ocean side. The sealed road reaches sheltered Yangie Bay, but the park really opens up for those with a four-wheel drive, who can reach Sensation Beach, Almonta Beach and the surf at Point Avoid.

In spring the heathlands erupt with wildflowers, emus and kangaroos graze the tracks, and ospreys and sea eagles patrol the cliffs. Several remote campsites let you stay the night under enormous dark skies.
