Tunarama Festival
Port Lincoln's iconic seafood and tuna festival
Tunarama is Port Lincoln's signature event, held each year in mid-January on the foreshore of Boston Bay. Born as a celebration of the town's southern bluefin tuna industry, it has grown into one of the Eyre Peninsula's biggest gatherings.
The festival is best known for its tuna-toss competition, in which contestants hurl a (now synthetic) tuna as far as they can - a spectacle that has become a national curiosity. Around it sit live music, carnival rides, fireworks, a street parade, market stalls and, of course, an abundance of local seafood.
It's a quintessential slice of coastal South Australian summer, drawing visitors and locals alike to the waterfront.
