Venus Bay Foreshore & Lookouts
Pelicans, Cliffs & Quiet Water
A tiny fishing settlement on a sheltered inlet, with a pelican-filled foreshore and dramatic cliff lookouts at the Needle Eye and South Head.
The peninsula at its most peaceful
Venus Bay is a small holiday and fishing village wrapped around a near-enclosed inlet on the west coast. The protected waters are famous for whiting and garfish, and the jetty and foreshore are patrolled by pelicans while dolphins work the entrance channel.
Just out of town, the coast turns dramatic: the Needle Eye lookout and South Head peer down sheer cliffs to the churning Southern Ocean, and a short walking loop links the clifftop viewpoints. It's a gloriously quiet corner of the Eyre Peninsula, beloved by those who return year after year.
